The ancient Egyptians were among the first to create a formal system of writing, which allowed them to record and store information about their culture, politics, and religion. This gave rise to a highly developed civilization that left behind magnificent tombs, temples, and pyramids. The ancient Egyptians also invented a unique method of transportation known as the chariot, which was later adopted by other cultures. In 1966, Time Magazine published an article entitled "The Children of the future." In it, writer Wallace Stegner made some pretty accurate predictions about how our world would change over the next few decades. Let's take a closer look at a few:
-He foresaw the rise of computers and their impact on society
-He predicted that people would start living longer and that life spans would continue to lengthen
-He correctly guessed that many jobs would be replaced by machines, and that this trend would continue
